Phil Rosenthal Biography
Phil Rosenthal is an American writer, producer, and director. He is best known for creating and executive producing the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond (1996-2005).
Early Life
Rosenthal was born on January 27, 1960 in Queens, New York. He graduated from the University of Miami in 1982 with a degree in broadcasting and film.
After college, Rosenthal began his career as a stand-up comedian. He toured the country for several years before moving to Los Angeles in 1990 to pursue a career in television writing.
Rosenthal’s big break came in 1996 when he created Everybody Loves Raymond, a sitcom based on his own life experiences growing up with a large Italian-American family in New York. The show was an instant hit, and ran for nine seasons on CBS.
After the success of Everybody Loves Raymond, Rosenthal went on to produce and direct a number of other television shows and films, including the sitcom Parents (2000-2001) and the documentaries Exporting Raymond (2010) and About a Boy (2002).
Rosenthal is currently the host of the Food Network series Somebody Feed Phil, which premiered in 2018. The show follows Rosenthal as he travels the world to experience different cultures and cuisines.
Rosenthal has won multiple Emmy Awards for his work on Everybody Loves Raymond and Parents. He has also been nominated for several Golden Globe Awards.
